The American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) has announced that the Museum of the American Revolution has received a 2021 Award of Excellence for its 2019-20 exhibition "Cost of Revolution: The Life and Death of an Irish Soldier."

Nearly 200 rare documents bearing the names of Black and Native American soldiers who served in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War are now accessible online to everyone at no cost, thanks to a partnership between Philadelphia’s Museum of the American Revolution and Ancestry, the global leader in family history.

Next fall, the Museum of the American Revolution will present its first international loan exhibition, Cost of Revolution: The Life and Death of an Irish Soldier, anchored by two significant portraits. Painted by English artist Thomas Gainsborough and Irish artist Hugh Douglas Hamilton, the portraits are on loan to the Museum from Australia’s National Gallery of Victoria (Melbourne) and the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin, respectively.
