The Museum of the American Revolution is conveniently located in Philadelphia's Old City District neighborhood and just steps away from historic Philadelphia attractions like Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and Independence National Historical Park as well as Penn's Landing and the Delaware River waterfront.

The Museum is within easy reach of Interstate 95 (I-95), Interstate 76 (I-76), Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station, and the Philadelphia International Airport.

American Airlines is the preferred airline of the Museum of the American Revolution.

Directions

From Bucks County and points north

Southbound via I-95

Take Exit 22, following the signs for the Historic Area and Independence Hall. Go straight on 2nd Street to Walnut Street. Turn right onto Walnut and go one block to 3rd Street. Turn right onto 3rd Street and go one block to Chestnut Street. The Museum is on the right at 3rd and Chestnut Streets. 


From Delaware and points south

Northbound via I-95

Take Exit 22 for I-676/Independence Hall (left exit), keep right for I-676 east/Independence Hall to Callowhill Street, go straight on Callowhill Street to 4th Street. Turn left on 4th Street. Turn left on Chestnut Street, go one block and the Museum is on the right at 3rd and Chestnut Streets. 

From Valley Forge and points west

Eastbound via I-76 and I-676

Exit from I-76 to I-676 (left exit), and take the US-30 E/I-676 E Exit, turn right on 6th Street. Turn left on Race Street to 4th Street. Turn right on 4th Street to Chestnut Street. Turn left on Chestnut Street and the Museum is on the right at 3rd and Chestnut Streets. 


From New Jersey

Westbound via Benjamin Franklin Bridge (U.S. 30)

Take the 5th Street Exit. Keep right at the fork to Marginal Road. Turn right on 4th Street to Chestnut Street. Turn left on Chestnut Street and the Museum is on the right at 3rd and Chestnut Streets.

By SEPTA Bus
SEPTA buses stopping near the Museum include routes 5, 9, 17, 21, 33, 38, 42, 44, 48, 57, and 121.

By SEPTA Regional Rail
All SEPTA Regional Rail Lines serve Jefferson Station at 10th and Market Streets, which is a few blocks’ walk or a quick ride on the bus or subway.

By SEPTA Market-Frankford Line (Subway)
SEPTA Market-Frankford Line has stations at both 2nd and 5th Streets on Market, just around the corner.

In addition to SEPTA service, Philadelphia PHLASH and other visitor trolleys also make stops within easy reach of the Museum as they navigate through Old City.

Use the 8th and Market Street stop. Head south on South 8th Street toward Ludlow Street. Turn left onto Chestnut Street. Turn right onto South 3rd Street. The Museum is on the left at 3rd and Chestnut Streets.

The taxi rate from the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) to the Museum is approximately $30. The SEPTA R1 Airport train stops at each airport terminal and reaches both the 30th Street Station and the Jefferson Station, where you can change to the Market-Frankford Subway line (see under Amtrak). Please see SEPTA's website or ask at the airport information desk for schedules and directions. The Center City Hotel Shuttle System, located on the Baggage Claim level of Philadelphia Airport, is another option.

Take Hudson Street and I-78 W to NJ-139 W in Jersey City. Follow US-1 S/U.S. 9 South and I-95 S to North 2nd Street in Philadelphia. Take Exit 22 from I-95 South. Continue on North 2nd Street. Drive to South 3rd Street. The Museum is on the right at 3rd and Chestnut Streets.

Take Baltimore-Washington Parkway in 2, Bladensburg from New York Ave NW. Continue on Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Take MD-295 North and I-95 North to South Christopher Columbus Boulevard in Philadelphia. Take Exit 20 from I-95 North. Continue on South Christopher Columbus Boulevard. Drive to South 3rd Street. The Museum is on the right at 3rd and Chestnut Streets.

Take I-76 W and I-95 N to S Christopher Columbus Boulevard. Take Exit 20 from I-95 N. Continue on South Christopher Columbus Boulevard. Drive to South 3rd Street. The Museum is on the right at 3rd and Chestnut Streets.

There are two Indego stations located within one block of the Museum. One at 2nd street and Walnut street and the other at 2nd and Market Streets. More information about the Indego bike program can be found here.

Stop 14 on the Philadelphia PHLASH bus, a downtown Philadelphia seasonal transit loop managed by the Independence Visitor Center, is located across the street from the Museum on Third and Chestnut Streets. Learn more about the Philadelphia PHLASH.
