Visit the Museum of the American Revolution this Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday, May 25 – Monday, May 27, 2024, to learn about the diverse range of people who served and sacrificed during the Revolutionary War and pay tribute those who continue to serve our nation today. On October 3, 1789, George Washington issued a proclamation designating Thursday, November 26, of that year as a national day of thanks. During Thanksgiving Weekend, the Museum of the American Revolution will offer special talks, guided tours, and family-friendly activities from Friday, Nov. 24 – Sunday, Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (6 p.m. on Friday).

The Museum of the American Revolution will recreate the dark days of the British occupation during Occupied Philadelphia, a two-day living history event on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 20 – 21. Throughout the weekend, the Museum will offer guided walking tours, special programming, and family-friendly activities exploring what life was like in the city while British forces controlled it.

In the fall of 1777, Philadelphia was seized by the British and occupied for nine long months. The Museum of the American Revolution will recreate this little-known time in our city’s history as part of its annual living history event, Occupied Philadelphia, on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The Museum will offer guided neighborhood walking tours and family-friendly activities exploring what life was like while British forces controlled – or, for some people, attempted to liberate – Philadelphia.

March into spring at the Museum of the American Revolution over Spring Break, March 23 – April 7, 2024, to explore what life was like during the Revolutionary War with military-themed crafts, interactive discovery carts, in-gallery talks, and more. Plus, celebrate the start of the season by joining an outdoor neighborhood walking tour, offered daily.

Bring the whole family to the Museum of the American Revolution during Labor Day Weekend, Saturday, Sept. 2 – Monday, Sept. 4, 2023, for pop-up talks, discovery carts, theatrical performances, and other family-friendly activities. Throughout the holiday weekend, kids 12 years old and younger receive free Museum admission (available at the Museum’s front desk, not online.)

General George Washington’s headquarters tent from the Revolutionary War is the centerpiece of the Museum of the American Revolution, where more than a million visitors have experienced the tent’s power in an immersive theater experience. In the Museum's upcoming special exhibition, "Witness to Revolution: The Unlikely Travels of Washington’s Tent," more than 100 artifacts from across the country will be brought together to expand the story told in the Museum’s award-winning Washington’s War Tent theater presentation and explore the tent’s inspiring journey from the Revolutionary War to today. Opening during Presidents Day Weekend, Witness to Revolution will be on view exclusively at the Museum from Feb. 17, 2024, through Jan. 5, 2025, and will be included with regular Museum admission.
