Visit the Museum of the American Revolution this Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday, May 25 – Monday, May 27, 2024, to learn about the diverse range of people who served and sacrificed during the Revolutionary War and pay tribute those who continue to serve our nation today. Throughout the weekend, veterans, military, and Blue Star Families will receive free admission.

And enjoy special weekend-long events in celebration of Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.

On October 3, 1789, George Washington issued a proclamation designating Thursday, November 26, of that year as a national day of thanks. During Thanksgiving Weekend, the Museum of the American Revolution will offer special talks, guided tours, and family-friendly activities from Friday, Nov. 24 – Sunday, Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (6 p.m. on Friday).

The Museum of the American Revolution will recreate the dark days of the British occupation during Occupied Philadelphia, a two-day living history event on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 20 – 21. Throughout the weekend, the Museum will offer guided walking tours, special programming, and family-friendly activities exploring what life was like in the city while British forces controlled it.

In the fall of 1777, Philadelphia was seized by the British and occupied for nine long months. The Museum of the American Revolution will recreate this little-known time in our city’s history as part of its annual living history event, Occupied Philadelphia, on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The Museum will offer guided neighborhood walking tours and family-friendly activities exploring what life was like while British forces controlled – or, for some people, attempted to liberate – Philadelphia.

The Museum of the American Revolution will celebrate National Military Spouse Appreciation Day on Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12 with special talks and tours about the roles of military families during the Revolutionary War. The programs kick off free Museum admission to Blue Star Families throughout the summer.

Celebrate Juneteenth, the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the legal abolition of slavery in the United States, with the Museum of the American Revolution from Saturday, June 17 – Monday, June 19, 2023, and explore stories of perseverance, leadership, and creativity in the continuing struggle for equality for all through gallery tours, pop-up talks, crafts and more.

This Veterans Day Weekend, Friday, Nov. 10 – Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, the Museum of the American Revolution will pay tribute to America’s first veterans as well as those who continue to serve our nation today. Visitors of all ages can enjoy walking tours, performances, and other family-friendly activities. From Nov. 10-12, the Museum will offer free admission to veterans, those currently serving in the military, and Blue Star Families, courtesy of Comcast NBCUniversal.

Today marks the first anniversary of the Museum of the American Revolution, which opened on April 19, 2017, the date that the “shot heard round the world” ignited the Revolutionary War in 1775. The Museum is looking ahead to exciting new experiences and initiatives in the coming year, including an interactive playscape that explores Alexander Hamilton’s Philadelphia connections, a hands-on discovery center, audio tours and a new line-up of Read the Revolution evening author events.
