Enhanced health and safety measures are in place to ensure the safest and most enjoyable experience for all, including reduced capacity, advance online ticket purchasing, and enhanced sanitizing and cleaning protocols.

In accordance with the City of Philadelphia public health mandates, masks and proof of vaccination are not required for visitors to the Museum.

Museum Operating Hours:
Daily, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
The Museum is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.

Advance reservations are strongly recommended for all visitors, including Museum Members, to facilitate a comfortable experience through the galleries. Tickets are timed and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Members can reserve tickets online or by phone (267-579-3565), and the general public can purchase tickets online or by phone (215-253-6731).

The Museum Shop is open during the Museum’s operating hours. The Third St. entrance will not be available, so all guests must enter through the Museum’s main entrance. The Museum’s online shop is available and offers a wide range of books, gifts, and apparel for all ages.

Health and safety protocols include:

  • Museum visitors are not required to wear a mask in accordance with City of Philadelphia public health mandates
  • Advance reservations are strongly encouraged to facilitate contactless payment.
  • The number of visitors in the building may be limited, with timed ticketing to help facilitate a comfortable experience through the galleries.
  • All public spaces and surfaces are cleaned and disinfected throughout the day, and hand-sanitizing stations are located throughout the building.
  • Interactive touchscreen displays in the galleries are available with additional cleaning throughout the day and nearby sanitation stations. 
  • All employees receive advance training on safety protocols and procedures developed to protect themselves and Museum visitors, based on guidance from government and public health officials.

We have made changes to our operations to prioritize the health and safety of our visitors and staff, detailed throughout this page; however, there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where people are present.

Visitors should assess their own health before visiting the Museum. If you feel unwell or experience any COVID-19 symptoms, please stay home, seek medical attention if needed, and plan your visit for another time.

To manage capacity, tickets are limited and sold on a timed basis. For guaranteed entry, we recommend that you purchase your admission tickets in advance online or by phone. You may print your tickets at home or access them on your smartphone. Same-day tickets at the front desk are available on a first-come, first-served basis and may sell out, especially on weekends.

Yes, audio tours are available on sanitized Museum-issued devices. Audio tour rentals are $5 with general admission and $3 for Museum Members. Museum-provided wands are cleaned after every use.

A limited number of wheelchairs are available on-site and will be cleaned and disinfected after each use. The wheelchairs are free of charge and do not require a reservation.

The Museum offers lockers for rent ($3-5) for personal items and larger baggage. Guests are allowed to carry small bags and backpacks in the Museum galleries.
