Virtual Distance Learning Program Options
Virtual sessions are $125 per classroom (up to 35 students). All programs are suitable for grades 4–12 and are 60 minutes unless stated otherwise, and are available between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET on Mondays and Tuesdays from Sept. 14, 2026 through March 31, 2027.
Through Their Eyes Virtual Museum Tour
Students are invited to take a live tour of our Virtual Museum Tour, using the stories and experiences of real people of the Revolutionary era to make personal connections to major events and smaller moments of the American Revolution. Along the way, they’ll tackle key questions about the Revolution and about the world today.
The Declaration's Journey Virtual Tour
Since its adoption in 1776, the Declaration of Independence has meant many things to people across the world. During this virtual guided tour, students will investigate historical objects from around the world. Together, these objects tell the story of how America’s experiment in liberty, equality, and self-government has continued to change the United States and the world for 250 years.
Add-On Virtual Themed Experiences
Duration: 45 minutes
Book these engaging live sessions with a Museum educator to supplement your virtual or in-museum guided tour, or as a stand-alone virtual program. Students will go beyond the galleries to get a new take on the work of museums and the people and events of the American Revolution.
Topics include:
- Thinking Like a Historian
Historians use objects, documents, and contextual knowledge to build an understanding of the past. In this experience, students will do the same, using their powers of observation and critical thinking skills to explore what objects and documents can tell us about the past. - Whose Liberty?: African Americans in the American Revolution
For enslaved men, women, and children, the turbulent 1760s-1780s provided moments of both opportunity and frustration. In this interactive program, students will weigh options and make difficult choices while they learn about the lives of four African Americans as they sought freedom for themselves and their families. - Inside Washington's Army
What does it take to be a soldier in the Continental Army? Students will find out as they join General George Washington’s Commander in Chief Guard. In this interactive experience, students will learn about life on campaign, get to know the men and women in Washington’s inner circle, and examine how Washington’s tent became a symbol of his republican leadership throughout the war with a legacy that lasts into today.
