This Revolutionary War toy set, made by Louis Marx and Company in 1957, includes 75 figures, 39 Continental soldiers in blue and 36 British soldiers in red. The set allowed children to recreate momentous battles and pivotal moments that shaped the founding of America. This set was one of two from Marx that includes an American 13-star flag. In addition to soldiers, it comes with a “Sons of Liberty” tavern, rearing horses, cannon, trees, rocks, and fences. The donor played with this set as a child in the late 1950s. The toy set represents a growing number of commemorative objects in the Museum’s collection from the 1800s and the 1900s.
