This workshop is free for eductors.
What can a Revolutionary relic teach us today? Using inspiring artwork, historical objects, and rare documents from our current special exhibition Witness to Revolution: The Unlikely Travels of Washington’s Tent, the story of this relic can be used to help teach about America’s ongoing experiment in liberty, equality, and self-government.
In this free professional development workshop, educators will explore the Witness to Revolution: The Unlikely Travels of Washington's Tent Teacher Resource Guide to help students dig deeper into the journey of General George Washington's headquarters tent from Revolutionary War battlefields, through the Civil War, to it's permanent home at the Museum today. Educators will be introduced to modular activities and ready-made worksheets highlighting topics such as Washington's leadership and the diverse group of individuals who helped to protect and preserve the tent over time.
