Edward G. Rendell
Gov. Edward G. Rendell served as Governor of Pennsylvania (2003-2011), Mayor of Philadelphia (1992-2000) and is currently a news analyst for NBC and Special Counsel to Ballard Spahr LLP. Rendell continues to champion several issues, such as alternative energy and government efficiency, by serving as a consultant or board member to Own Energy, Element Partners, Ocean Thermal Energy, Government Sourcing Solutions, Public Financial Management and Greenhill Advisors; and addressing the need to invest in American infrastructure projects by serving as Co-Chair of Building America’s Future, alongside Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Rendell recently penned his first book, A Nation of Wusses: How America’s Leaders Lost the Guts to Make Us Great. Before serving as Mayor, Rendell was elected District Attorney of Philadelphia for two terms from 1978 through 1985. Rendell also served as Chairman of the Democratic National Committee during the 2000 Presidential election. In addition to his position on several boards, he is a Brookings Fellow and teaches government and politics courses at the University of Pennsylvania. An Army veteran, he holds a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from Villanova Law School.
