AmRev Presents: National Treasure Night, Nov. 22
November 5, 2024
Join the Museum of the American Revolution on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. for AmRev Presents: National Treasure Night, an after-hours event inspired by the 2004 movie “National Treasure” and the Museum’s current special exhibit, Witness to Revolution: The Unlikely Travels of Washington’s Tent, which recounts the 250-year history of the Museum’s key artifact. The evening includes a themed cocktail reception in the Museum’s Rotunda followed by an exclusive presentation at 6:30 p.m. given by Special Agent Jake Archer, FBI Art Crime Team, about how the FBI and museums work together to save real “national treasures” from theft, fraud, forgery, and more.
Citing recent cases, Special Agent Archer will delve into the FBI Art Crime Team’s role and the true measures it takes to collaborate with cultural heritage and research institutions to protect their collections. Archer will be joined by Museum President and CEO Dr. R. Scott Stephenson to further discuss an ongoing investigation into Revolutionary artifacts that were stolen over 50 years ago from the Valley Forge Historical Society, which transferred its collection to the Museum in 2003. Stephenson will also preview the Museum’s plans for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, which include a special exhibition that will interpret the American Declaration as a founding document that continues to inspire independence movements around the world.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for a “National Treasure” themed cocktail reception, extended Museum Shop hours, activities inspired by the surprising facts behind the film’s fictional heist, and a chance to meet Dr. Aubrey R. Paris and Dr. Emily M. Black, hosts of the National Treasure Hunt podcast and authors of National Treasure Hunt: One Step Short of Crazy. Special exhibit Witness to Revolution will also be open throughout the evening. Tickets are $35 for general admission and $30 for Museum Members, and can be purchased here.
