First Oval Office Project Description
The First Oval Office Project is a recreated Revolutionary War encampment, including handsewn, full-scale replicas of General George Washington's sleeping and office marquee, dining marquee, baggage tent, camp bed, furniture, and more that were part of his mobile headquarters while on campaign. In 2013, the Museum partnered with the Historic Trades Department at The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in Williamsburg, Virginia, to create the First Oval Office Project.

Style Guide
Identifying the Museum
Official name: Museum of the American Revolution (do not capitalize “the” before the name). Use the official name on first reference and “the Museum” alone on subsequent references. Please do not use MOAR, MotAR, M*AR, or MAR, and only use MoAR if absolutely necessary.
Clarifying Real vs. Replica
As the Museum owns and displays George Washington’s actual 240-plus-year-old sleeping and office tent, in order to limit confusion, please include clear references that the First Oval Office Project tents are “replica” or “reproduction” wherever possible. Additionally, please include the following sentence in event descriptions: General George Washington's original sleeping and office tent from the Revolutionary War is on permanent display at the Museum of the American Revolution in historic Philadelphia.
