Museum Members are invited to join Museum Curator of Exhibitions Matthew Skic on Tuesday, Jan. 16, for an exclusive online presentation and sneak peek into the planning for our upcoming special exhibition, Witness to Revolution: The Unlikely Travels of Washington’s Tent.
From the Revolutionary War to the present day, generations of Americans and visitors from abroad have found inspiration — and yes, shed a few tears — in the presence of General George Washington’s headquarters tent. Tracing the tent’s journey from Valley Forge in 1776 to Marquis de Lafeyette’s 1824-1825 United States tour to its preservation and display at the Museum today, Skic will present a virtual discussion and Q&A to illustrate new research for the exhibition and highlight the stories and artifacts that will be on display in Witness to Revolution when it opens over Presidents Day weekend. Museum Members are invited to experience the exhibition before it opens to the public at the Witness to Revolution Member Preview on Friday, Feb. 16, 2024.
This online-only event on Zoom Webinar is free for Members with RSVP to Membership Manager Emily Grenier at [email protected]. Members who register for this event in advance will receive first and exclusive access to the event’s recording.
