The Declaration's Journey Teacher Resource Kit for Teaching Independence and Revolution in World History

The Museum of the American Revolution has developed a free printed teacher resource kit about the impact and influence of the Declaration of Independence around the world since 1776. The kit includes an overview of the Declaration of Independence, country profiles focused on independence movements, high-quality images and/or transcriptions of primary source documents and artifacts, lesson plans and activities, and posters for classroom display.

The materials are aligned with AP World History standards and with World History Content Standards created by the National Center for History in the Schools at the University of California, Los Angeles, under the guidance of the National Council for History Standards.

Every teacher who receives a kit will also have access to real-time and asynchronous professional development workshops about the material contained in the Teacher Resource Kit.

Kits will be mailed in late fall 2026 and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Limited to U.S. and territories.

The Teacher Resource Kit complements The Declaration’s Journey, a major special exhibition created by the Museum to mark the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding. The exhibition explores the history and global impact of the Declaration of Independence from 1776 to today. Since then, more than 100 nations have integrated its ideals into their own independence movements, making it one of the most influential political documents in modern history. The Declaration’s Journey is presented by Griffin Catalyst.
