PHILADELPHIA – June 19, 2014 –The Museum of the American Revolution today announced a gift of $500,000 from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation. With this gift the Museum has secured more than $104 million toward its $150 million goal to build and endow the Museum of the American Revolution, set to open in late 2016.

At a ceremony held adjacent to the Museum site, on the steps of the historic First Bank of the United States, President and CEO Michael Quinn welcomed Bank of America as the newest Founder-level supporter ($500,000 and above) of the Museum, now under construction in the historic heart of Philadelphia. “We applaud Bank of America for their leadership in supporting and preserving our nation’s great heritage. Their generous support moves us closer to opening the doors of the Museum of the American Revolution, which will honor those who created our nation and established equality, liberty and self-government as our guiding ideals.”

“Bank of America is honored to be recognized as a Founder of the Museum of the American Revolution,” said Tom Woodward, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia market president at Bank of America. “As America’s birthplace, Philadelphia is the perfect location to showcase this incredible collection that brings to life the most important event in American history. The museum will serve as an important economic driver to our city and a must-see destination for all visitors to our region.”

About The Museum of the American Revolution:

The Museum of the American Revolution will tell the complete story of the American Revolution using its distinguished collection of objects, artifacts, artwork, and manuscripts. Permanent and special exhibition galleries, theaters, and large-scale tableaux will bring to life the original “greatest generation,” and engage people in the history and continuing relevance of the American Revolution. Construction is now underway for the new Museum that is being built steps away from Independence Hall, Carpenter’s Hall, Franklin Court, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier of the Revolution. It will serve as a portal to the nation’s many Revolutionary sites, sparking interest, providing context and encouraging explorations that begin at the Museum’s doorstep. The Museum is a private, non-profit organization. For more information, visit www.AmRevMuseum.org or call toll free, 877-740-1776.
