The Museum of the American Revolution today announced a new program that provides a free, year-long, Family-level Membership to anyone with a Pennsylvania ACCESS Card. ACCESS Cards are given by the state to Pennsylvania residents who monitor their government-issued cash, food, or medical benefits with an EBT card.

The program is made possible by support from PECO. The PECO Family Membership program soft-launched in May 2021 and already has nearly 200 Member families.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer this new program, thanks to the generous support of PECO, to make the Museum more accessible to community members for whom admission cost is a particular barrier,” said Adrienne Whaley, the Museum’s Director of Education and Community Engagement. “Not only is the Museum committed to telling new stories, but we are also committed to exploring those stories with new audiences, especially ones that might not expect to see themselves and their histories here.”

PECO Family Membership-holders receive the same benefits as the Museum’s standard Family Membership holders, including 12 months of unlimited access to the Museum for two adults and up to four children or grandchildren, special exhibition previews, invitations to Member-exclusive events, Museum shop and café discounts, and other special offers. To enroll in the program, ACCESS Cardholders should bring their ACCESS card and ID to the Museum’s front desk. More information about the PECO Family Membership is available here.

“PECO is proud to partner with the Museum of the American Revolution on this important new initiative,” said Mike Innocenzo, PECO President and CEO. “At PECO, we are committed to supporting programs and activities designed to make arts and culture more accessible to a broader and more diverse audience. The PECO Family Membership is a prime example of that commitment, and we are thrilled to help even more people experience the rich, complex, and inspiring stories that the Museum tells.”

The PECO Family Membership program builds on the Museum’s participation in Art-Reach’s ACCESS Admission program, which provides $2 admission to visitors presenting a Pennsylvania ACCESS Card. Prior to the pandemic, approximately 1,000 individuals visited the Museum each year using an ACCESS Card.

The Museum is currently beginning extensive outreach to local community organizations to engage them in the new program and to help spread the word to their constituencies.
