Have Breakfast with Founding Father George Washington this Father’s Day Weekend

This Father’s Day weekend, celebrate with the father of our country – George Washington – at the Museum of the American Revolution on Saturday, June 16. Guests can meet-and-greet a Washington historical interpreter and enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet of muffins, pastries and mini-quiches, courtesy of Brûlée Catering, in the Museum’s elegant Liberty Hall. 

Seatings will take place at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Tickets are available for purchase here. Adult tickets are $50, youth (ages 6-18) are $25, and children five and under are $10. Member tickets are $40 for adults, $15 for youth, and free for children five and under. Access to the Museum’s exhibits is included.

After breakfast, guests are encouraged to view Washington’s War Tent in the Museum’s second-floor Alan B. Miller Theater, which dramatically presents General Washington’s wartime headquarters tent. In the Museum’s core exhibition, Washington’s silver camp cups and portmanteau are on display, as well as Washington’s sword, which was made in Philadelphia in 1770 and used during the early years of the Revolutionary War.

On special exhibit for a limited time, the Commander-in-Chief’s Standard, a rare blue silk flag that marked the presence of General George Washington on the battlefield during the Revolutionary War, will be on display in the Museum’s first-floor Patriots Gallery from Flag Day, Thursday, June 14, through Father’s Day, Sunday, June 17.

The blue flag measures approximately two feet by three feet and features 13 white, six-pointed stars representing the 13 colonies on a blue field. It is believed to be the earliest surviving 13-star American flag. Each visitor to the Museum will receive a miniature version of Washington’s Standard to take home.

Throughout the weekend, guests can add a stitch to a reproduction of a Revolutionary flag, design their own flag, and try cutting a six-pointed star like the one on the Washington Standard. They can participate in a flag-themed scavenger hunt in the Museum’s galleries, and explore the Museum’s new discovery center, Revolution Place, which opens to the public on June 9.
