We join with so many in the history community in mourning the loss of Linda Eaton, an expert and leader in the field of interdisciplinary textile scholarship, who most recently served as the John T. and Marjorie McGraw Director of Collections at Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library.

Linda played a key role on the team that worked on the groundbreaking project to conserve, study, and interpret George Washington’s headquarters tent for display at the Museum of the American Revolution. Her love for the history of textiles combined with her generosity in sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for learning about the projects of others made her an unmatched colleague. Her influence and inspiration on the study of American textiles will live on through the many students, scholars and museum professionals that she advised, taught and inspired.
