From the Museum Collection: Portrait by an unidentified artist, 1770-1785. Oil on Canvas. Collection of the Museum of the American Revolution. Acquired through the generosity of the Collections Society. Friedrich Karl August, Prince of Waldeck, raised one regiment to serve in North America alongside the British Army. This portrait shows an unidentified officer from one of the regiments from the principality of Waldeck.

‘Tis the season of Revolution for Collections Society Members as we approach the 250th anniversary year ahead! On Monday, Dec. 15, Museum Director of Collections and Exhibitions Matthew Skic invites members of the Collections Society to a themed interactive tour and festive lunch. Hosted by Museum President and CEO Dr. R. Scott Stephenson, our curatorial team will showcase the year’s Revolutionary research discoveries and artifacts recently installed in the Museum’s galleries, made possible thanks to annual support from the Museum’s Collections Society. Join Matthew Skic, Director of Collections and Exhibitions, James Taub, Associate Curator, and Alexandra Cade, Assistant Curator, for this behind-the-scenes experience to celebrate a remarkable year.
