Continental Artillery

Jean-Baptiste-Antoine de Verger, a lieutenant in the French Army, painted this portrait of a Continental artilleryman following the Siege of Yorktown. This soldier is holding a linstock, a tool used to ignite the propellant powder charge of an artillery piece.
