Timothy Pickering

Timothy Pickering, shown in this postwar portrait by Charles Willson Peale, served as Quartermaster General of the Continental Army at Verplanckā€™s Point. Originally from Massachusetts, Pickering served as a militia officer during the earliest days of the war. He became well-known for his authorship of the military manual An Easy plan of Discipline for a Militia, published in 1775.
