Sir Brooke Boothby

English lord Sir Brooke Boothby and St. George shared a love of art, theatrics, and fantasy. They also suffered from painful experiences. In 1791, Boothby’s five-year-old daughter Penelope died suddenly and he plunged into deep depression. The following year, St. George lost his wife. Both men shared their pain with Henry Fuseli, hoping his artistry could help them grapple with their losses.
