Edmund Burke

Irish-born philosopher Edmund Burke predicted that the French Revolution would end in disaster and a dictator would take over France. He argued that revolution would destroy the traditional and natural order of society and replace it with atheism and chaos. His words sparked outrage among other observers such as Mary Wollstonecraft and Thomas Paine.
