A Fellow Irish Officer: Captain-Lieutenant Lullum Batwell 

Light infantry officer Lullum Batwell commissioned this portrait of himself when he returned home to Ireland in 1780. Batwell served as the captain-lieutenant of the 46th Regiment’s light infantry company in 1777. As a member of the 2nd Battalion of Light Infantry, he fought alongside St. George at the battles of Brandywine, Paoli, and Germantown.
