Grab a cocktail and kick back for a Revolutionary Staycation right here at home – no passport or airfare necessary! Dozens of historic sites and landmarks from across Philadelphia and its surrounding countryside will join the Museum of the American Revolution on Tuesday, August 21, from 5 – 8 p.m. for a Revolutionary Staycation-themed event, part of the Museum’s History After Hours series.

Clean out those summer cobwebs and get your brain back in gear at the Museum of the American Revolution this Labor Day Weekend, Saturday, Sept. 1 through Monday, Sept. 3. Kids 12 and under will receive free admission to the Museum throughout the weekend.

The Museum of the American Revolution announced the establishment of the Gerry Lenfest Spirit of the American Revolution Award with the presentation of the inaugural award to Pulitzer Prize-winning author David McCullough at a private event on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

Sound the drummers call! Beat the quick march! On Saturday, August 18 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., the Museum of the American Revolution will be celebrating the fifers and drummers of the Revolutionary War with a free Fife and Drum Party on the Museum’s outdoor plaza.

The American Revolution Round Table of New York (ARRT) has donated a 27-volume set of the Papers of Alexander Hamilton (Columbia University Press, 1955) to the Museum of the American Revolution. The books were delivered to the Museum by ARRT Chairman David Jacobs.

The Museum of the American Revolution is asking visitors and passersby to declare how they are carrying forward the American Revolution’s promises of liberty and equality by adding a personalized ribbon to a flag-shaped “Declarations Wall.” The wall is located on the Museum’s outdoor plaza from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 30 – Wednesday, July 4, 2018. The goal is to collect 10,000 ribbons by July 4.

In 1942, African American World War II veteran John Edward James, Jr. was denied his commission as second lieutenant because of the color of his skin. More than 75 years later, the government is finally making amends.

With July 4 quickly approaching, a truly one-of-a-kind artifact is now on display: one of the first printed versions of the Declaration of Independence, a broadside printed on parchment by Philadelphian John Dunlap in July 1776.
