18th-Century Tradition Inspires Colorful Holiday Window Illuminations at the Museum

This holiday season, the Museum of the American Revolution is reviving a traditional 18th century form of celebration: colorful window illuminations inspired by famed Philadelphia artist Charles Willson Peale. The window illuminations, “Illuminating Liberty,” are now on display nightly through the New Year. Each weekend in December from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., kids can create their own illumination-inspired ornament to take home.

New “Third Tuesdays” Series Kicks Off Sept. 19

The Museum of the American Revolution’s new “Third Tuesdays: History After Hours” series kicks off on Tuesday, Sept. 19 with extended evening hours from 5 – 8 p.m. on the third Tuesday evening of each month, featuring special themed programs, happy hour food and drink specials, games and trivia, and full access to the Museum’s exhibits. The next “Third Tuesdays” event this year will take place on Oct. 17. They will resume in January 2018.

Museum Asks Visitors How They Will #BeTheRevolution, Aims to Create Flag with 10,000 Personalized Ribbons by July 4

The Museum of the American Revolution is asking visitors and passersby to declare how they are carrying forward the American Revolution’s promises of liberty and equality by adding a personalized ribbon to a flag-shaped “Declarations Wall.” The wall is located on the Museum’s outdoor plaza from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 30 – Wednesday, July 4, 2018. The goal is to collect 10,000 ribbons by July 4.
