Celebrate Black History Month and explore the stories of unsung Revolutionaries at the Museum of the American Revolution this February. Through the opening of a new special exhibition, an engaging forum on race, theatrical performances, and more, visitors can experience a more inclusive – and thus, more accurate – history of our nation’s founding. A highlight of the month will be the grand opening of the Museum’s newest special exhibition, "Witness to Revolution: The Unlikely Travels of Washington’s Tent," which opens Saturday, Feb. 17.

The Museum of the American Revolution will reopen on Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, after a temporary closure due to citywide COVID-19 restrictions.

The Museum of the American Revolution today announced that it has been recognized with a 2022 Award of Excellence from the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) for its 2020-2021 special exhibition When Women Lost the Vote: A Revolutionary Story, 1776-1807, which explored the little-known story of women and free people of color legally voting in New Jersey following the Revolutionary War.

On Friday, June 19, the Museum will celebrate the 155th anniversary of Juneteenth, a celebration of the legal abolition of slavery in the United States, and will explore the continuing struggle for equality.
