Presidents Day was originally established in 1879 to commemorate the birthday of George Washington, our nation’s first president, and later expanded to include all who have held our nation’s highest office. It’s a Revolutionary Summer at the Museum of the American Revolution

June 21 marks the official start of summer, and the Museum of the American Revolution is celebrating by announcing extended hours, special programs, a happy hour series and family fun all summer long. From June 17 – Sept. 4, the Museum will feature extended summertime hours from 9:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. For the month of July, hours will be extended even further until 7pm. After Labor Day, Museum hours will return to 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Museum’s Living History Youth Summer Institute Returns in July and August

This summer marks the return of the Museum of the American Revolution’s Living History Youth Summer Institute, a six-week intensive course for young adults interested in interpreting the lives of people of African ancestry in the Revolutionary era. This year’s program, which runs from July 5, 2023 – August 11, 2023, introduces eight participants to the museum field and the world of costumed historical interpretation, with a focus on enslaved and free people of African descent.
