Museum Honors America’s First Fallen Soldiers and Sailors During Memorial Day Weekend

This Memorial Day weekend, the Museum of the American Revolution will pay tribute to the men and women who lost their lives in service to their country during the American Revolution, and celebrate the freedoms they fought to secure for future generations from Saturday, May 26 – Monday, May 28, 2018 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Veterans and active or retired military will receive free admission courtesy of Comcast NBCUniversal during Memorial Day Weekend.

New “Third Tuesdays” Series Kicks Off Sept. 19

The Museum of the American Revolution’s new “Third Tuesdays: History After Hours” series kicks off on Tuesday, Sept. 19 with extended evening hours from 5 – 8 p.m. on the third Tuesday evening of each month, featuring special themed programs, happy hour food and drink specials, games and trivia, and full access to the Museum’s exhibits. The next “Third Tuesdays” event this year will take place on Oct. 17. They will resume in January 2018.

Fife and Drum Party on the Plaza

On Saturday, August 19 from Noon – 3 p.m., the Museum of the American Revolution will host a Fife and Drum Party on the Museum’s outdoor plaza to celebrate the musicians of the Continental Army who helped the United States win its independence. The event is free and open to the public. (Rain plan: the party will be moved into the Museum’s first-floor Patriot Gallery and will still be free to the public.)

Author and Historian John Gilbert McCurdy to Launch New Book “Vicious and Immoral: Homosexuality, the American Revolution, and the Trials of Robert Newburgh” at the Museum on June 6

Author Tim McGrath Joins the Museum to Explore Commodore John Barry’s Role in the Continental Navy, Nov. 15

Award-winning author Tim McGrath will join the Museum of the American Revolution on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, from 6:30 – 8 p.m. for a special presentation, titled “‘What Think You of an American Fleet?’: The Rise and Fall of the Continental Navy,” to kick off the Museum's 2023-24 Read the Revolution Speaker Series. Drawing on two of his award-winning books, Give Me a Fast Ship: The Continental Navy and America’s Revolution at Sea and John Barry: An American Hero in the Age of Sail, McGrath will explore the life of Commodore John Barry (1745-1803) and his role in the Continental Navy, our first official naval force.
