From shoemakers to flagmakers, woodworkers, and more, nearly 30 costumed historical tradespeople will join the Museum of the American Revolution on Saturday, May 14, 2022, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 15, 2022, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. for Revolutionary Artisans & Makers: A Living History Event.

An historic Bible, connected to one of the most significant African American families in Philadelphia’s history, has been donated to the Museum of the American Revolution by Atwood “Kip” Forten Jacobs and his daughter Taylor Jacqueline Rodriguez Jacobs, direct descendants of Black Revolutionary War veteran and abolitionist James Forten. The Bible is currently on display – for the first time in public – in the Museum’s special exhibition Black Founders: The Forten Family of Philadelphia.

Gingerbread is the most revolutionary of all American cakes, with a rich history in early American culture. On Saturday, Dec. 9, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., New York Times bestselling author Anne Byrn will join the Museum of the American Revolution for a family-friendly illustrated talk, book signing, and gingerbread baking demonstration based on her most recent book, American Cake.

The Museum of the American Revolution will recreate the dark days of the British occupation during Occupied Philadelphia, a two-day living history event on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 20 – 21. Throughout the weekend, the Museum will offer guided walking tours, special programming, and family-friendly activities exploring what life was like in the city while British forces controlled it.

The Museum of the American Revolution today announced that it has been recognized with a 2023 Special Achievement Award from PA Museums for its 2021-2022 special exhibition Liberty: Don Troiani’s Paintings of the Revolutionary War. A bright purple Ford F-150 truck will be parked on the outdoor plaza of the Museum of the American Revolution on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. as part of the 2018 Purple Heart Truck Run. The Museum will mark the 250th anniversary of the beginning of the Revolutionary War and the creation of the United States Armed Forces with a new special exhibition, Banners of Liberty, opening April 19, 2025.
