During Winter Break, Wednesday, Dec. 26 – Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, visitors to the Museum of the American Revolution can explore the city of Philadelphia as Hamilton would have experienced it. Visitors can learn about activities that would have taken place in the Museum’s neighborhood during the Revolutionary era, from dueling to dressmaking and more.

In Hamilton Was Here: Rising Up in Revolutionary Philadelphia, the Museum of the American Revolution will highlight the surprising connections between our own city and Hamilton’s extraordinary contributions to the nation’s founding. The experience will run from Oct. 27, 2018 – March 17, 2019. It is free with regular museum admission.

Michelle Erickson is joining the museum to showcase her scholarship and craftsmanship with a special evening program and a live ceramic demonstration.

Treasured family heirlooms that once belonged to Alexander and Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton are now on display at Philadelphia’s Museum of the American Revolution. They are on loan from Douglas Hamilton, the fifth great-grandson of Alexander Hamilton.

Philadelphia earned a reputation in the 1700’s as the capital city of craft, and the city’s maker movement is still alive and well today. On Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 5 – 8 p.m., the Museum of the American Revolution’s Ceramics in the City-themed History After Hours event will celebrate the craftspeople, artisans, and artificers who made the Revolution possible and those who continue to make Philadelphia a hub for the handmade.

The Museum of the American Revolution today announced the appointment of Dr. R. Scott Stephenson, currently Vice President of Collections, Exhibitions, and Programming for the Museum, as President and CEO, effective Nov. 1, 2018. Since 2007, Stephenson has led the development of the Museum’s award-winning exhibitions, multimedia experiences, and educational programming, as well as overseeing the care and expansion of its rich collection of art and artifacts.
