Museum of the American Revolution Announces New Director of Marketing Kim Huskinson
The Museum of the American Revolution today announced the hiring of Kim Huskinson as Director of Marketing. Huskinson brings to the Museum more than a decade of experience in strategic marketing and communications, primarily within the nonprofit arts and culture sector.
Most recently, Huskinson served as the head of marketing and audience engagement at the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia). During her tenure, yearly attendance grew by 95 percent, from 412,000 in 2012 to nearly 900,000 in 2018. Huskinson also played a key role in the planning and implementation of Mia’s 2015 Birthday Year, which included 52 “birthday surprises,” resulting in significantly increased attendance and extensive national press coverage.
At Mia, Huskinson developed the inclusive outdoor and digital brand campaign Everyone is Welcome. Always., a first-of-its kind for Mia. She also developed the brand storytelling project Art is Essential, which won two international Communicator Awards and spawned the documentary We Need to Talk: The Dollhouse. The documentary examines race and representation in art and history from the viewpoint of four African American women with deep connections to the community and has traveled the country to help facilitate conversations about race relations in America.

In her new role, Huskinson will be responsible for creating awareness of and engagement with the Museum and its programs in order to achieve annual attendance goals. She will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing marketing strategies and establishing and maintaining the Museum’s brand identity in order to captivate and engage Museum audiences and deepen community connections.
Huskinson received a bachelor’s degree from Hamline University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Integrated Marketing Communications from St. Catherine University.
