Join the Museum over Memorial Day Weekend to pay tribute on-site and online to the men and women who lost their lives in service to their country during the Revolutionary War and celebrate the freedoms they fought to secure for future generations.

Veterans, military, and Blue Star Families can reserve a free ticket online using code MEMDAY21, courtesy of Comcast NBCUniversal, which can be redeemed onsite with valid ID.

10-Minute In-Gallery Talks: Veterans Wall

Enjoy a 10-minute pop-up talk and come face-to-face with the Revolutionary Generation through their photographs in the Museum’s final gallery. The last known Revolutionary War veterans died shortly after the Civil War, yet many still had their photograph taken. 

Postcards to Blue & Gold Star Families

Guests of all ages are invited to write a special message of gratitude for service members and their families throughout the weekend. The Museum will mail the messages to organizations supporting Blue and Gold Star Families.

Contactless Discovery Cart: Rebecca Flower Young

Flagmaker Rebecca Flower Young advertised “all kinds of colours” for the Revolutionary cause from her shop here in Philadelphia. Meet a Museum educator to view replica objects and learn more about Young’s work as a military contractor making flags and drum cases for the Continental Army.

Virtual “Walking” Tour: Thaddeus Kosciuszko

Join us on Facebook to learn more about Polish military officer Thaddeus Kosciuszko (also spelled Tadeusz Kościuszko), who served as a colonel in the Continental Army starting in 1776 and engineered the fortifications that played a critical role at the Battle of Saratoga. Don’t miss a stop outside the Thaddeus Kosciuszko National Memorial, located just a few blocks from the Museum at 3rd and Pine Street, where Kosciusko lived from 1797-98 upon his return to the United States.

Follow the Museum’s how-to instructions to create your own commemorative ribbon craft, based on silk ribbons given at a ceremony in 1825 to surviving veterans of the Battle of Bunker Hill to commemorate their service at the battle 50 years prior.
