The Museum's first oval office project set up at Newport Historical Society with four costumed living history interpreters and one Museum staff member in a navy blue museum polo.

Join the Museum at Valley Forge National Historical Park on Tuesday, Oct. 8, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., for Homeschool Day where we will set up our First Oval Office Project, a recreated Revolutionary War encampment, including handsewn, full-scale replicas of General George Washington's sleeping marquee, baggage tent, and common tents that served as his mobile headquarters while on campaign. Navigate the encampment, explore the tents, and meet costumed living history interpreters portraying the people who would have been there. Washington's original sleeping and office tent from the Revolutionary War is on permanent display at the Museum of the American Revolution in historic Philadelphia.

Valley Forge National Historical Park provides in-park homeschool programming, and Homeschool Day features special activities from rangers, volunteers, and guests from surrounding parks and historic sites. This is a free event with no registration required. Homeschool Day is geared towards homeschool families with kids between the ages of 5 and 15, though it is also open to the general public.
