The Museum's first oval office project set up at Newport Historical Society with four costumed living history interpreters and one Museum staff member in a navy blue museum polo.

Join the Museum at the Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York, for their Battle of Brooklyn and the Meaning of Freedom event, where we will set up our First Oval Office Project, a recreated Revolutionary War encampment, including handsewn, full-scale replicas of General George Washington's sleeping marquee, baggage tent, and common tents that served as his mobile headquarters while on campaign.

The largest battle of the Revolutionary War was fought throughout what is now known as Brooklyn, including a significant engagement on land that is part of the Green-Wood Cemetery. What did this battle mean to the many different people in New York and Brooklyn at the time? Green-Wood shares the many perspectives of this revolutionary chapter with kids and families, in partnership with the Museum of the American Revolution, the Center for Brooklyn History, and other esteemed institutions.
