Pulaski’s Legion Standard is on loan to Banners of Liberty from the Maryland Center for History and Culture; Conserved with support from a Dean F. Failey Grant through the Decorative Arts Trust.

Collections Society members at the Benefactor level ($1,000) and above are invited to meet Museum staff and experts at The Maryland Center for History and Culture (MCHC) in Baltimore, Maryland, for a private 3 p.m. behind-the-scenes tour of Revolutionary collections and textiles, hosted by MCHC Vice President of Collections and Chief Curator Catherine Arthur. The tour will feature exclusive access to collections storage in MCHC’s Carey Center. Participants are welcome to arrive early for complimentary admission to MCHC and are invited to stay to enjoy brief remarks in the special exhibition, Unfinished Revolution: Maryland in the Wars for Independence, at 4 p.m. after the Carey Center tour concludes.  

With time to explore the historic Mount Vernon Place neighborhood and MCHC exhibitions, participants will then reconvene at 5:30 p.m. for complimentary access to The Wye Oak Lecture, featuring Museum President and CEO Dr. R. Scott Stephenson in conversation with MCHC President and CEO Katie Caljean about Count Casimir Pulaski’s cavalry banner, an MCHC treasure recently conserved and on loan to the Museum’s Banners of Liberty exhibition. The 6 p.m. lecture will conclude with a light reception to follow.

Collections Society Benefactor participants will be required to make independent travel plans to this special program located at Maryland Center for History and Culture (610 Park Avenue) in Baltimore, Maryland, which offers directions and parking instructions here: https://www.mdhistory.org/visit/directions-parking-accessibility  

Note: Program includes May 8 admission to MCHC during regular museum hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

  • 3 - 4 p.m. - Meet at MCHC main entrance for a private tour of Carey Center 
  • 4 - 5 p.m. - Option to enjoy exhibition highlights in Unfinished Revolution 
  • 5:30 p.m. - Doors open for Wye Oak Lecture 
  • 6 p.m. - Wye Oak Lecture and reception 
  • 7:30 p.m. - Program conclusion
