The American Revolution’s ideals of liberty and equality were laden with both ambition and contradiction in a nation where slavery existed throughout the 13 United States, complicating how we understand it today. Educators are invited to join this free virtual workshop as we welcome Julie Winch, acclaimed author of A Gentleman of Color, to explore the roots of the American abolition movement through the lens of Black Revolutionary James Forten and his family.
